In a city that loves it’s food the punjabi food of a north Indian dhaba was the starting point as an aesthetic. With a rich precedent of interesting graphics, identifiable interior elements and an element of fun that is what became an inspiration and spring board for the fresh look. The design challenge was the diverse location that had to be tackled. This particular one was an old house in a posh part of Kolkata. A completely load bearing structure made the choice of not touching the walls an obvious one. The final spaces were organic and lacked any regiment of a regular restaurant which was the biggest takeaway for the design team
